Scholarly communication is evolving towards Open Access and Open Science, with increasing requirements for managing and publishing data. As a result, librarians have a role to play in making biomedical research accessible and guiding authors through the myriad of options available to them. They also need to carve out unique roles in the dissemination process. Health science libraries in the Middle East also have the potential to tackle health misinformation, and encourage evidence-based practice. The symposium will bring together medical information professionals from the region and internationally to explore and consider our role in health literacy and science communication, as well as opportunities for further research.
The Weill Cornell Medicine–Qatar Distributed eLibrary is pleased to host a one-day symposium on the Evolving Health Information Landscape. Keynotes, presentations, and discussions will cover changes to scientific publishing, navigating health information, and libraries as health communicators.
